NEW MUSIC: Michael Rice – Breaking Free

So today we have come across a UK Eurovision alumni with a brand new single out and we couldn’t resist posting about it. The song is great, his voice is great and although he didn’t pick up the Eurovision crown in 2019, this song would be a showstopper at both the Eurovision Song Contest as well as the soundtrack to a massive blockbuster film worthy of a performance at the Oscars, we LOVE it!

Based in Hartlepool, 22 year old Michael Rice has been developing his sound over the year after his participation in the world’s biggest music show ‘Eurovision‘. His song ‘Bigger Than Us’ went on to hit the charts in Sweden, Denmark as well as landing him his first UK Top 10 single.

Breaking Free’, which was released on July 17, is a heartfelt, motivational, uplifting classical pop track, with a twist of gospel. Get ready for an emotional trip into your soul. Don’t hold back, you’re allowed to cry this time.

It’s a song about breaking away from the mould that society expects you to be. Sometimes it can be you against the world, but you gotta fight for what you believe in and you stand for, even if that means stepping into the unknown. Being that change, regardless of what people may say or think or even judge you for it. It’s all good to be scared, what you feel in your heart is the only truth.

‘Breaking free’ is written by Michael Rice (UK), Roel Rats (NL), Tjeerd Van Zanen (NL) and Marcia Sondeijker (NL) and is produced by Roulsen (NL) and offers us as listeners a journey through the song with incredible vocals and that classic Michael Rice belt that we are used to from previous songs you can hear on his Spotify as well as his performances on the BBC’s All Together Now which he featured on in 2019 alongside Spice Girl Geri Halliwell (Horner) and Rob Beckett.
